Apple Hospital has the state–of–art 1.5 Tesla Whole body MRI scanning system.This new generation MRI has the capacity of performing both structural and functional MRI. This is the first ever & only of its kind technology available in the region surrounding almost ten districts.

In addition to above features, MR- SPECTROSCOPY is the unique feature of our MRI SYSTEM 

MR SPECTROSCOPY: Assessment of various neurological diseases on the basis of anatomical information can be done by using various strengths MRI machines. But only  1.5 Tesla MRI facilitate MR SPECTROSCOPY EXAMINATION,which detects the relative proportion / concentration of different biological molecules (Metabolites) within the tissue in various neurological diseases. Thus providing exact diagnosis & differentiation of similar appearing MRI lesions. This added advantage of plotting ‘Diseases specific metabolite patterns’ is  useful in,

1. Differentiating various focal parenchymal lesions 
2. Diagnosing & grading of brain Tumours
3. Surgical guidance & monitoring response to   therapy. Distinction between     radiation necrosis & recurrence of   tumour in post-operative patients
4. Neurodegenrative and Metabolic disorders.   

Focal lesion in right superomedial frontal region with heterogeneous enhancement scan done elsewhere & reported as differential diagnostic possibilities of Tuberculoma & a glioma. MR Spectroscopy done at our centre revealed high Choline peak( red arrow) & A low NAA peak (yellow arrow) metabolite peaks making this finding highly suggestive of neoplasm – biopsy report of the same revealed Grade III astrocytoma.

Cerebral, Thoracic, Abdominal, Renal & Peripheral MR (high resolution)     Angiography.   The only modality, which provides non-contrast & non-invasive angiography, based on blood attenuation values.

MRI is used to diagnose abnormalities and pathology in the brain, spine, and musculoskeletal system, as well as solid organs in the abdomen and pelvis.

Safety
An MRI is a non-invasive procedure that is not painful and involves no ionizing radiation (no x-rays). It sometimes requires an intravenous contrast to be used, which is exceptionally safe.

Consent for MRI Scan

A) Does the patient have any of the following?
 

  • Cardiac Pacemaker
  • Cerebral Aneurysm clio/ Neurostimulator
  • Metal fragment in eyes
  • Hearing Aids
  • Any surgical / metallic implants in the body
  • Any bullet / Gunshot or likewise any metal fragment in the body.

B) Whether the patients is pregnant?

C) Any history of Allergy / Reaction?
